An integrated system
SMSs, Ministry systems and EdTech solutions are a crucial part of how schools and kura operate, and Te Rito works.
Right now, there’s no easy way to bring all their information together so it's easier for schools to manage.
But when an SMS connects to Te Rito, and data from other systems and solutions is added, more information is available for connected schools to access – even if they use a different SMS.
Te Rito isn't an SMS - it complements them
Schools connected to Te Rito continue to use their SMS for all its functions, including creating and updating student records.
The SMS continues to be the official source of student information.
Te Rito works by pulling information from a range of systems and sources. This is how it enables an up-to-date record to follow each student as they move between schools.
SMS and Ed Tech integrations
Edge / Helix, eTAP, Hero, KAMAR and Compass are integrated and other providers are working towards their integrations.
At a minimum, providers must meet Safer Technologies for Schools (ST4S) requirements to be considered for integration.
For more information and copies of Te Rito’s integration documents, email terito@education.govt.nz
You can also visit Te Rito’s API site for technical guidance on the integration process, including how to access the sandbox environment.
