The workforce questionnaire collects data on staff employed in tertiary education providers that receive government funding.

Full year data collection

Data on staff numbers is collected for the full calendar year. The collection of annual data takes place in conjunction with the December Single Data Return (SDR).

The workforce questionnaire is to be submitted in Excel format only. If you have any problems downloading or accessing these documents, contact CustomerService@tec.govt.nz or phone 0800 601 301.

Data required from subsidiaries or third-party organisations

From 2016 to 2021 providers were required to report data for staff members who carried out 'academic' or 'research-only' activities via a subsidiary or third party. From 2022, this data is no longer required. These staff should not be included in the data submitted.
