How to use Pokapū Waka Kura | School Transport Hub
Schools can use Pokapū Waka Kura to:
- Apply for SESTA (Specialised School Transport Assistance) on behalf of their ākonga
- Apply for a SESTA Conveyance Allowance on behalf of their ākonga
- Apply for a Conveyance Allowance on behalf of their ākonga
You can save the application at any stage and return to it later. Before you start, we recommend you:
- complete applications with a Chrome browser for optimal performance
- have the appropriate Pokapū Waka Kura school user role added to your ESL account
- have the student information, including NSN
- have the relevant bank account information for conveyance allowance applications. You'll need to supply one of the following:
- A bank statement showing the account holder's name, bank account number and at least one deposit or once withdrawal transaction with its corresponding date.
- A pre-printed deposit slip which includes the full bank account (bank, branch, account number and suffix) and the account holder's full name.
- ATM printout which shows the bank logo and the full bank account number (bank, branch, account number and suffix) and the account holder's full name.
- Bank teller account confirmation dated and stamped by the bank. Which shows the full bank account number (bank, branch, account number and suffix) and the account holder's name.
- An internet printout which includes the full bank account number (bank, branch, account number and suffix) and the account holder's name and the web address along the top or bottom of the page.
Please note:
- the bank account proof must not be more than six months old
- the caregiver's name must match the bank account name or there must be supporting documents to establish the identity link (e.g. marriage certificate).
Once submitted, applications will take up to 20 working days to be processed. After the application has been submitted, you can select to receive email updates on the application's progress. Alternatively, you can view the online application and track the application as it moves through the approval process.
View and manage an existing application
You can view applications for your school by selecting from the main menu 'My School's Applications'. From here you will able to:
- resume an application that has been previously started
- submit your school's Declaration for a Conveyance Allowance application
- view the status of an application and whether action is required by your school or the Ministry
- view completed applications (approved or not approved).
