This application form is for schools to apply for structured literacy approach staffing that provides additional capacity to meet the needs of their students who require targeted support to accelerate their progress in literacy. This staffing is available for schools teaching the New Zealand Curriculum.
This staffing resource should be used to provide additional capacity to meet students’ needs. Allocation of the staffing resource will depend on the numbers of students who require support, EQI, roll size and the number of applications made.
To apply, schools will meet the following criteria:
- Evidence of student need
- Teaching The New Zealand Curriculum
- Completion of Ministry-funded SLA Professional Learning and Development (PLD) or equivalent Ministry endorsed SLA PLD
- Using the relevant SLA resources available on Tāhūrangi
- Agreement from the school to match FTTE from school funds, (exceptions will be made with agreement from the Ministry, based on school size and need – please get in touch with our support team if you feel your school will not be able to match the FTTE allocated)
- Agreement to use the FTTE granted for the intended purpose only
- Participation in Ministry evaluation of the intervention where required
- Obtaining consent from parents and whānau for sharing assessment data with the Ministry
- Access to a teaching resource to provide Structured Literacy Approaches targeted teaching
