Early childhood services, student management systems and other organisations must make sure they protect the information they collect, access and submit to the ELI system. 

Personal information such as names, birthdates and addresses, must be kept private. This is required under the Privacy Act 2020.

For security and support purposes, our security systems collect information including:

• the date and time you visited the site
• your country/location  
• your IP address  
• the pages you accessed on our site, details about your operating system (for example, Windows 7, Mac OSX) 
• your web browser (for example, Chrome or Internet Explorer). 

This is used for support purposes (such as if you had issues accessing part of our site) or for security purposes (such as if our security teams need to investigate a security incident).  

This information is retained for 18 months in line with NZ Government protective security requirements.
